Since yesterday morning, Kolapore has received 25+ cm of new snow, and it is snowing energetically.  The snow gauge was up to 38 cm in the afternoon.  Skiing was good today, although there was a lot of trail breaking.  I would still recommend rock skis - I scraped a number of times today.  The County Forest parking lot was in good shape.   There were problems at the Kolapore parking lot this morning - I don't know if it has been cleared.   Kolapore Trail Guide

My post this morning was accurate, but then the temperatures dropped and we got a bit of new snow.  I had a pleasant ski this afternoon in the County Forest and some adjacent trails.  The wet snow firmed up and provided a better base.  The snow gauge is now at 18 cm - still thin, but much improved since Thursday.  You should still use rocks skis, and I would postpone using rockier trails or steep hills until we have some more snow.  Kolapore Trail Guide

We had a wild night, with snow falling, driven by strong winds.  Unfortunately, the temperature warmed and we received rain.  It is hovering just above freezing at 8 AM (just below at 10 AM).  The snow is wet - snowball snow - and there is much less new snow than hoped.  Some of the local ski areas are saying they received 15 cm, but at Kolapore the new snow that remained after the rain was less than that.  Where it hasn't drifted, there may be 5 - 7 cm of new snow.  Some trails are probably skiable, if you don't mind heavy wet snow.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Thursday afternoon we skied through County Forest and west on Southern Crossing to the 10th Line.  The snow gauge was at 10 cm, although there is only about 2 cm of snow under skis after one or two skiers have been through.  The skiing was better than I expected, although the close to 0 temperature meant that it was a bit clumpy.  Rocks skis were the right choice for the day.  I would not ski on rockier Kolapore trails or hills (most of the system) until we get more snow.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Kolapore received light snow overnight and during the day today.  There is about 7 cm, which is not nearly enough for skiing.  I will post again when conditions change.  Kolapore Trail Guide

I skied about 5 km in the County Forest this afternoon.  The base ranged from 0 to 2 cm.  Conditions were mainly poor, with a few sections that were fair.  I wouldn't recommend it, even to hardcore skiers on rock skis. Kolapore Trail Guide

Kolapore received 15+ cm of heavy snow overnight.  This was on top of bare ground.  Some trails (like parts of the County Forest) are probably skiable using rock skis.  Bring a scraper - there is damp ground underneath, and the potential for icing is significant.  The County Forest parking lot is well plowed.  At the moment, that probably isn't the case at the main Kolapore parking lot.  Kolapore Trail Guide

The warm weather and rain has melted virtually all of the snow cover.  Most of the ground is brown or green.  The trails are quite wet, so we discourage trail use at the moment.    Kolapore Trail Guide

There is about 15 cm of wet, heavy snow in the bush.  It might be skiable if you like those sorts of conditions, and know how to avoid clumping.  Kolapore Trail Guide

The milder temperatures and sun today melted a significant part of the snow.  We will need a considerable amount of snow before the trails will be skiable again.  Kolapore Trail Guide
