I did a 10 km loop today in the southeast quadrant, and can confirm that it is still rock skiing, and probably only for Kolapore veterans.  I guarantee that even in less used areas, you will hit lots of rocks.  Kolapore did not receive the dump of snow that fell at Collingwood.  Logging is continuing in the County Forest, so the trails there are closed.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Kolapore received about 12 cm of snow Wednesday, plus a few cm Thursday and Friday.  The heavy snowfall that hit Collingwood bypassed Kolapore.  The base is a bit over 20 cm, most of which is light powder.  That's thin for Kolapore skiing - rock skis would be essential.  The Kolapore parking lot was cleared Thursday by one of our dedicated volunteers.  We are still looking for an affordable contractor to carry out the work on an ongoing basis.  There is no snow removal at the Metcalfe Rock parking lot.  Logging is continuing in the County Forest, so the trails there are closed.  Kolapore Trail Guide

The snow blowing contractor who cleared the Kolapore and Metcalfe Rock parking lots has withdrawn his services because of insurance issues.  The Association is looking for other arrangements, but in the short term there won't be any snow removal in the two lots.  There is now about 15 cm of snow (less in some areas), which isn't enough to make most of the Kolapore trails skiable.  The County Forest trails are likely to remain closed for another week because of logging.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Snow accumulation in the bush is about 25 cm - 10".  Although this is the low end of the desirable snow cover for Kolapore, there is likely to be some OK skiing in selected locations.  Rock skis are recommended.  The County Forest is still closed for use.  Because the Kolapore parking lot is being plowed by a volunteer in the short term, overall there is likely to be less plowing than in the past.  The Metcalfe Rock parking lot is not being plowed.   Kolapore Trail Guide

Kolapore has about 10 cm of snow.  This is not enough for pleasant skiing anywhere on the trail system.  The County Forest trails are still closed due to logging.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Kolapore has about 15 - 18 cm of snow in the bush (6 - 7 ")  This isn't enough to provide safe and enjoyable skiing.  The County Forest trails are still closed to all use because logging is continuing.  Kolapore Trail Guide

There was a thaw midweek and we lost much of the snow that fell on Monday.  A few cm fell overnight, so there is about 10 cm of snow in the bush.  Given the warm conditions predicted for mid-week, there are no short term prospects for skiing.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Yesterday and overnight Kolapore received over 20 cm of snow.  That fell on bare, unfrozen ground, so I would not recommend trying skiing.  Most of the snow will likely melt over the next few days.  The County Forest is still closed due to logging, but we are moderately optimistic that the logging will be completed by mid-December  Kolapore Trail Guide

As noted in the News section, starting mid-September most trails in the County Forest have been closed to public use.  This precludes connections to the north (John's Portage or Kingsway) or to the west (Southern Crossing).   We will post updates.

I posted a week ago, and not a lot has changed since then.  Although there is still snow in the bush (disappearing in open areas), skiing conditions continue to be poor.  On some recent days the snow was pure ice.  Other days the snow warms up and softens, but the tracks are very poor.  On a number of recent days the off track skiing has been better than the on track skiing.  I've skied at Scenic Caves several times over the past week, and I'm sure the skiing there was a lot more enjoyable than at Kolapore.  Kolapore Trail Guide
