The County Forest trails are open again for cross country skiing. The closure signs and barriers should be removed over the next few days. The trails on the north side of the Forest are in relatively good condition. Some of the trails on the south side are very rutted and rough because of the logging equipment. Overall, skiing conditions were very good today. The official snow gauge is at 30 cm. I skied Southern Crossing, Quiet Pastures and the south end of Trail to the Summit, and was very pleased at how well the trails have frozen. There are some advantages to frigid conditions!
