2026 Kolapore Loppet

We're back! Welcome to the 2nd Annual Kolapore Loppet.

First we'd like to thank all the adventurous skiers who supported our inaugural Loppet last year. We had a great time together and your donations had a meaningful impact on our ability to maintain the trails in 2025. Thanks also to our dedicated volunteer team who made this event possible.

On February 14 2026, once again you're invited to challenge yourself on the Kolapore Wilderness Trails!

The Kolapore Loppet is a ski tour on ungroomed backcountry trails with three levels, featuring new routes for 2026 and a new indoor facility near the start/finish.

K51 Gold:   A 51 km tour consisting of 2 loops which will cover nearly every meter of the trail network. There will be alternative options for the most demanding downhills.

K26 Silver: A challenging tour of the most popular trails in the network.

K15 Bronze: A tour of a scenic and varied loop through terrain that is a little less challenging.

All participants are required to register in advance. There is no entry fee for the event but there is a suggested donation of $25 or more to cover event costs and contribute to trail maintenance projects year round.

Membership to the Kolapore Wilderness Trails Association is not required but we encourage it. There will be an exclusive member-only registration period from Dec. 8-14. You can join KWTA here. Not sure if you're a current member? Contact us and we'll let you know.

Loppet registration is now open for Members. Non-members are invited to register starting on Dec. 15.

Exciting news for 2026! The Utopia Market has offered us a wonderful location near the start/finish where Loppet skiers will be able to park and access the large, heated indoor market where washrooms are available, and food and hot drinks can be purchased. Another generous partner, Free Spirit Tours, will run a shuttle between Utopia Market and the start/finish area at the County Forest parking lot. We are deeply grateful for the support of these new local partners, which will allow more skiers to participate in the event this year.

Light refreshments will be available at the start/finish area at the County Forest parking lot. Otherwise you will need to be self-sufficient for your day on the trails. There will be one aid station along the 25K and 51k routes where water and treats will be available.

If ski conditions are not favourable or safe on February 14, we'll run the Loppet as a virtual event instead, allowing you to go out on your own schedule. The virtual option is also available if you're not able to attend on February 14. If you register as a virtual participant and make a donation toward trail maintenance, we'll send you a finisher medallion once you let us know that you've completed your ski.

The Loppet is happening on Valentine's Day and Family Day weekend and we've heard that some skiers are planning a romantic day on the trails with their Valentine or a fun day with their family!

A few things to know:

  • You are asked to carry a paper Kolapore Ski Map. There is an excellent official ski map that we encourage you to buy in advance. Currently, it is available at Little Ed's and it will be available at all our usual locations soon after we replenish our stock. The map will also be available for purchase at the event.
  • You will receive a detailed Participant Guide for your route distance.
  • In your race kit, you will receive a printed route guide that will direct you using Kolapore Wilderness Trails signage. The Loppet courses will not be marked in the trail network.
  • All skiers will need to sign a waiver prior to the event. Skiers under 18 will need their Parent or Guardian to sign the waiver.
  • Skiers under 16 years old will need to ski with an adult.
  • Skiers will be asked to carry some basic mandatory gear for safety. We'll provide a list closer to the event.

We’re looking forward to another fun, challenging day on the trails with a great bunch of people.

Thanks so much for your support!
