The Ecology Hike is the seventh and final KWTA Heritage Hike celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Kolapore Trails.
Come and learn about the ferns, lichens, bushes, wildflowers, birds, and animals that comprise the fragile and complex web of the understory.
Hike Leader is Brian Popelier.
Brian works with the Bruce Trail Conservancy as a senior ecologist. He is the BTC Land Stewardship Coordinator where he performs ecological inventories - which include breeding bird surveys, frog call surveys and Species at Risk surveys - on over 14,000 acres of BTC managed land. His experience encompasses authoring and leading property management plans, ecological restoration plans and invasive species management for BTC properties as well as supporting BTC clubs in stewardship, encroachment and ecological issues.
Brian holds a B.Sc. in Environmental Science and Biology from Trent University as well as certificates in Ecological Land Classification, bird and plant identification, Butternut Health Assessment, Ontario Pesticide Forestry License and Ontario Wetland Evaluation.
