Forestry Hike, 2.0
Sunday, July 9, 2023, 9 am (please arrive 10 minutes early)
The second of the KWTA 50th Anniversary Heritage Hikes - the Forestry Hike on Monday, June 26 - met with inclement weather. The rain poured and the thunder rumbled. After an hour and a half of wet walking, the hardy group of 23 retreated from the woods.
But good news: Rick Grillmayer has agreed to lead a second Forestry Hike on Sunday, July 9! So, if you missed out on the first one, or if you want to come and hear more of Rick’s teachings about tree identification, invasive species and the origins of and threats to our forest, you have a second chance!
Rick is the Manager of Forestry at the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority. The NVCA's Forestry Program assists landowners with Forest Management and Tree Planting. The 2023 tree planting season will have seen his 2.8 Millionth tree planted.
This will be a rain or shine event. If there is thunder and lightning it will be postponed until Sunday, July 16.
Location: Kolapore Uplands Parking Lot, 495445 Grey Rd. 2, Ravenna
Duration: 3 hours
Route: Kolapore Church to Kev’s Way and Wild Mouse
You will be asked to sign a waiver at the parking lot when we meet on Sunday morning. Please arrive 10 minutes early so we can all be ready to leave at 9 am.

The Heritage Hiking Series is free to all participants although a donation to the Kolapore Trails - either in the donation box at the parking lot or by e-transfer to www.info@kolaporetrails.org - is always welcome.
