I haven't posted since Saturday, because not a lot has changed.  There has been very little new snow this week.  The popular trails are well packed, and could use a bit of new snow.  The skiing today is VERY slow because of the cold temperatures.  (For those who aren't aware, the colder it is, the less glide there is.)  The snow at the gauge has settled to 61 cm.

Kolapore Association Members:  If you are planning to come to the Soup and Ski on Saturday, please let us know ASAP.  Hope, the Kolapore Fairy, has temporarily put down her axe and picked up a soup pot, but needs to know how much soup to make.

Kolapore received over 5 cm of new snow last night.  However, this may be a good day to take a rest - it's currently -18C with a strong wind.

Today was a classic Kolapore ski day - sunshine, blue skies, powder snow, good tracks.  Some of the more popular trails were fast, but not icy.  The snow gauge is at 60cm - we have a great base.

Kolapore received a few cm of snow overnight.  The surface snow feels powdery - there may have been a hint of freezing drizzle, but probably not enough to affect skiing.  There is still a possibility of freezing drizzle this morning.  Conditions were great yesterday - hopefully they will stay that way.

Kolapore has received 10+ cm of snow yesterday and today.  Late afternoon update: skiing was great today.  The snow gauge is up to 58 cm (23") - by far the most we've had had any point this winter.  Lots of skiers out today.

The weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow morning is nasty (ice pellets and possible freezing rain), so I will do a posting tomorrow morning to report on what happens.

Kolapore has received 15+ cm of snow yesterday and today.  Conditions over the next few days should be very good as long as you are prepared to "break trail" if you go on a less-used trail.  The Kolapore (Entrance N) parking lot was plowed mid-day.  We are near the end of our plowing contractor's long route, so if there is a heavy snowfall, don't count on the lot being plowed before noon.

Skiing was good today.  The fresh snow we received yesterday freshened up all the hills.  The snow gauge is at 41 cm (16").  Last weekend I skied our wettest trail (Quiet Pastures) and was pleased by how well it has frozen - it's very skiable.  Although I haven't skied it, I hear that parts of Northwest Passage may be beaten down by snowshoers.

Kolapore has received about 10 cm of snow over the past 24 hours, and it is still snowing as I write this at 8 AM.  This should help to freshen up the trails.  I will expand this post after skiing on the trails.
