Trails are finally drying out following a very wet spring. Please ride and hike safely and walk around remaining puddles.

Assistance needed with weed whacking. Trail association has the equipment. Contact info@kolaporetrails.org if you can help.

Trail crew weekends this year July 29-30 and August 12-13. See https://www.facebook.com/kolaporetrails/ for details. Come for an hour or the weekend. Every little bit helps.

Kolapore received a few cm of snow this week, much less than was predicted.  This snow fell on top of either a thin crust or bare ground.  I don't think you could find any section of the trail that has decent ski conditions.

Kolapore had hard rain last night, and warm temperatures today.  We lost all of the new snow that fell last week, and more of the base.  There are large areas without any snow cover.  It may be possible to find segments of trail that are possible to ski, but conditions would be mediocre.  Unless we get a really serious dump of snow it is probably the end of the ski season.

Kolapore has received 10 cm+ of snow over the past two days.  It may be possible to find sections of trail with decent skiing.  I don't have specific recommendations, other than that trying to ski at the Kolapore entrance is not a good idea.

After the rain last night, I doubt that any portion of the trails is skiable.  It will take a substantial dump of new snow, plus significant cold weather, to make the trails skiable.

I went out for a (very) short ski in the County Forest this morning, after the few cm of new snow last night.  Conditions were worse than I had expected.  The trail is into late spring conditions, where the old track is higher than the adjacent snow.  I'd hoped to do some off-track skiing, but even on lanes in the County Forest (which is usually the most reliable area for snow cover) there are areas where the base has totally melted, and there is only the few cm of new snow.  Skiing in from the Kolapore entrance would be even worse than conditions in the County Forest.  We need a major dump of snow to have decent ski conditions.

Very warm conditions this week with rain in the forecast. Still snow in the woods but trails are getting exposed. County Forest may survive until colder conditions and more snow arrive next week. Stay tuned.

Beautiful day to be on the trails. Main routes well-packed with lots of snow. Slow. But think quality not quantity. Not your big distance day but who cares. No wax skis or Universal/Red Klister will get you there in style. For Sunday, you will probably hit best conditions around 10/11. Though there should be good skiing throughout the day.

Playing hooky today would pay off. Great conditions throughout the system. The weekend will be warm but the snow will hold. Think about skiing in the morning on Saturday and Sunday to get in a run before the trail softens.

Well, it just keeps coming. More snow yesterday and tonight. It's a winter wonderland. If you can get out for a ski sooner than later, do. Warmer weather is on it's way.
