Kolapore has received 5 cm so far, and it is snowing at the moment.  It sounds like there will be more light snow during the day, and possibly heavy snow overnight.  Skiing should be good, but parking may be tricky tomorrow.  I will post an update later today.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Kolapore received 8 cm of light powder snow on Saturday night.  This will help to freshen up the trails after the heavy use they received on Friday and Saturday.   Kolapore Trail Guide

Overnight Kolapore received about 7 cm of light powder snow.  This will improve conditions.  Most trails should be enjoyable today.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Kolapore received a dusting of snow on Monday.  It has been a number of  days since there has been significant new snow, and with the use over the weekend the trails are getting packed down.   Hills on popular trails (e.g., Kolapore Church and Paradise Highway) will be scraped from snowplowing, and fast.  Many flatter or less used trails still offer  pleasant skiing.  Kolapore Trail Guide

There was enough new snow that the skiing was very pleasant today.  On the most popular trails some hills might have been getting a bit scraped.  When you get away from the more heavily traveled areas, the trail conditions are excellent.  Wet areas are finally freezing - e.g., the south end of Trail to the Summit is finally frozen, although there are still lots of dips.  One result of the heavy use this winter is that there are more moguls than usual, both on hills and on the flats.  I hear reports that parts of Northwest Passage are poor because of the damage done by walkers.  Kolapore Trail Guide

As of 5 PM Friday, Kolapore had received somewhere between 5 - 7 cm of new snow.  It's hard to tell exactly how much because of the drifting.  This is on top of the hard packed/icy base.  The new snow will help quite a bit, but we are hoping for more to get back to prime conditions.  Kolapore Trail Guide

With the heavy use of the trails on the weekend, many of the trails are now hard packed and fast.  Hills on popular trails are quite scraped from snow plowing, and some downhills may be treacherous.  Many of the more heavily used trails probably move up a grade in terms of degree of difficulty.  I hear that sections of Northwest Passage have been heavily walked on, and aren't pleasant for skiing.   On Monday, parts of County Forest were still quite easy, although novices probably won't like the small hills on the access trail starting at Grey Road 2.  I'll post again after we get some new snow.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Thursday night Kolapore received another 5 cm of powder snow.  Skiing was great both Thursday and Friday.  Even some of the problematic wet spots are starting to freeze over. The parking lots at Kolapore and Metcalfe Rock were cleared Thursday, but because of parked vehicles obstructing snowclearing, there are still some snowy sections.  Roadside parking is available at the County Forest.  The trails and parking areas are likely to be busy this weekend. so when you come be sure to have a backup parking strategy if your first choice is full.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Since my post Wednesday morning, we've had more than 15 cm of new snow, most of which came overnight.  Once again, don't count on easy access to the Kolapore parking lot this morning.  Roadside parking at the east end of the County Forest is in good shape.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Tuesday and overnight Kolapore received somewhat over 10 cm of snow, and it is snowing hard as I post this at 8 AM.  Trail breaking will be the initial task.  Parking lots won't be plowed until later in the day.  Good roadside parking is available at Dawson Lane.  Kolapore Trail Guide
