Temperatures on Wednesday got to +3 or 4 at Kolapore.  I was expecting that conditions would be very poor, but when I did a short ski in the County Forest this morning I rated conditions as fair to good.  The 2 cm of snow we received this morning helped.  I didn't ski any serious hills - I think the hills that have had a lot of snow plowing may be challenging until we get more snow.   Kolapore Trail Guide

Kolapore received about 7 cm of new snow overnight and into the morning.  The first 10 km of skiing this morning was lovely, but then we started to ice and clump on our waxable skis.  The same could happen on non-wax skis.  If you are coming out today (or even more so tomorrow), bring a scraper, and it is desirable to prep non-wax skis with glider.  Kolapore Trail Guide

There were lots of skiers out today, so all trails should be well skied in.   Conditions were good to excellent.  The Kolapore parking lot was probably full at times today, so if you are coming out on Sunday it is a good idea to have alternate access points in mind.  There were vehicles in the Metcalfe Rock parking lot, but I would only try to get in with an AWD vehicle.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Kolapore received about 18 cm of snow yesterday and overnight.  Be prepared to break trail today.  The snow gauge is up to 42 cm, although that is the unconsolidated snow depth.  The additional snow has improved conditions in the west half of the County Forest, where the recent logging left ruts.  The parking lot on Grey Road 2 at Kolapore has been plowed this morning by our dedicated volunteer.  The roads at the east entrance to the County Forest are well plowed, and offer roadside parking.  It is unlikely that the parking lot at Metcalfe Rock will be accessible. Kolapore received about 2 cm of light powder over the past 24 hours.  This will help to freshen up the trails.  Conditions should be good to excellent.  Get out and enjoy the trails before the minor thaw that is predicted for Tuesday afternoon.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Kolapore received 8 cm of powder overnight.  Ski conditions should be excellent, as long as you are prepared for the cold.   Tracks were firm and fast yesterday - today you will need to be prepared to break trail.  The entrance to the Kolapore parking lot has been shovelled - there isn't enough snow in the lot to be a problem.   Kolapore Trail Guide

I skied some of the "trails less travelled" this morning, and conditions were very good.  There has been just a dusting of new snow the past few days.  The snow gauge has settled from 38 to 33 cm (15" to 13").  Much of the south side of the County Forest has enough snow that the skiing is OK after the end of logging, but between 4 and 5 many skiers might prefer the informal lower, flatter route.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Although there were lots of skiers out yesterday, skiing conditions should still be good today.  There is 15"/38 cm of snow at the snow gauge.  It should be possible to switch from rock skis to good skis.  The Kolapore parking lot was plowed yesterday by our dedicated volunteer.  The Metcalfe Rock parking lot has not been cleared, but it should be possible for SUVs to get in.

As I post this at 8 AM, Kolapore has received 11 cm of powder overnight, and it is snowing.  There may be some challenges with parking today.  The roads at the east end of the County Forest have been plowed and offer decent roadside parking.  I will update later in the day.

Kolapore received about 2 cm of snow overnight.  Ski conditions are good to excellent. Cold conditions have frozen the wet areas, and most rocks have decent snow cover.  I still think that rock skis are advisable if you have them.  The County Forest trails are open again for cross country skiing.  Most of the closure signs and barriers have been taken down.  The trails on the north side of the Forest are in relatively good condition.  Some of the trails on the south side are very rutted and rough because of the logging equipment.   Some snow has accumulated in the Kolapore parking lot since it was plowed this week, but it is usable.  The Metcalfe Rock parking lot has not been plowed.  Kolapore Trail Guide
