Kolapore received 2 cm or so of snow overnight.  Ski conditions should be good today.  Two Kolapore Trail Guides did the Kolapore Church - Paradise Highway loop yesterday (doing trail cleanup), and conditions were very pleasant.  There are still a few rocks and wet spots, but they are easily avoided.  Get out and enjoy.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Overnight Kolapore received 3 or 4 cm of new snow.  This will help to freshen up the trails after a weekend when lots of skiers were out.  Substantially more snow may arrive later today or tomorrow - I will post tomorrow morning.  I will repeat my caution about possible wet areas in the SW quadrant of the trails.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Overnight Kolapore received 5 cm of new snow.  This will freshen up the trails.  The parking lots will be usable even if they haven't been plowed.  There will still be a reasonable number of areas where skiers will encounter rocks (not in the County Forest).  I continue to recommend avoiding the traditional wet areas in the SW quadrant of the trail system.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Not a lot has changed since my post Tuesday evening, other than that the Kolapore lot is plowed (in addition to the County Forest lot) and there has been about another 5 cm of snow.  The cautions regarding wet areas in my last post are still relevant, although the cold weather will be improving that.  It's beautiful out, with snow hanging on the trees.  Get out and enjoy.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Overnight Kolapore received about 15 cm of snow, and another 5 cm fell during the morning.  The (uncompacted) snow at our snow gauge is close to a half metre deep.  The County Forest parking lot was plowed.  At 4 PM the main Kolapore parking lot had not been plowed.  Skiing was very enjoyable this afternoon - a winter wonderland with snow hanging on the trees.   I skied west of the 10th line on Southern Crossing, and encountered a lot of slush and open water, so turned back.  We strongly recommend that you not ski on the south end of Trail to the Summit, the south end of Quiet Pastures or the west end of Southern Crossing (the perennial wet areas.)  Kolapore Trail Guide

The County Forest and Kolapore parking lots are in good shape.  Most trails were skied on Sunday.  Overnight and during the day we've received about another 5 cm of snow.  However, I would give two cautions.  There are still lots of rocks near the surface, so rock skis are strongly recommended outside the County Forest.  Some of our traditional wet areas probably haven't frozen yet, so I would avoid the south end of Trail to the Summit and Quiet Pastures south of 58.  The predicted cold weather should help to fix the wet areas.   Kolapore Trail Guide

As I reported last evening, Kolapore received close to 30 cm of snow yesterday.  The County Forest parking lot is well plowed, and the first skiers started breaking trail there at 9:30.  Sideroads have been plowed.  I suspect that the main Kolapore parking lot won't be plowed until later today (we are near the end of our snowplow contractor's route.)  If it hasn't been plowed, don't try to get in.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Since mid-morning, Kolapore has been receiving serious snow squalls.  At 5:30 PM, the new snowfall today is getting close to 30 cm.  This will greatly improve skiing conditions, but don't think about coming out until the weather has settled down, and roads and parking lots have been cleared.  That could easily be mid-day Sunday or later.  One minor skiing consideration is that the new snow will have concealed some wet spots.  Skiing in the County Forest this morning, we had to be careful at wet spots just east of 5 and west of 4.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Last night and into this morning Kolapore received about 10 cm of snow.  I still expect that the snow cover on many Kolapore trails will be too thin to provide good skiing, but I am planning to explore the County Forest and vicinity on rock skis.  Let's hope that the snow squalls that are predicted for Saturday come to pass.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Yesterday morning I posted that Kolapore had received about 5 cm of wet snow overnight.  When I shovelled snow, it was closer to 10 cm.  Overnight we received about 4 cm of drier snow.  I still wouldn't recommend Kolapore skiing, given that we lost much of our base.  Hopefully some of the predicted snow squalls will hit us, although as I post this at 8 AM, most of the streamers are just to the east of us.  Kolapore Trail Guide
