Overnight Kolapore received about 3 cm of new snow on top of the crust.  This is a good start, but isn't enough to provide pleasant skiing.  PM update:  Kolapore has NOT been receiving the streamers that have been hitting some local areas. We skied at Scenic Caves this afternoon, and they have received about 20 cm of new snow in the last day or so.   Kolapore Trail Guide

Kolapore received quite a bit of rain yesterday, and very little snow.  This substantially reduced the base, but there is still reasonable coverage.  There may be wet puddles under the snow in some areas.  The snow is very crusty - not nice for skiing.  I would recommend staying off the trails until we get a reasonable amount of new snow.  Kolapore Trail Guide

With the warmer temperatures we had today, and which are predicted for the next few days, you should expect to encounter "mashed potatoes" snow.  Not my favourite.  I'm inclined to stay off the trails until we get cooler temperatures and some fresh snow.  The good news is that we still have a substantial base, although a few more rocks are starting to show through.   Kolapore Trail Guide

I skied at the north end (Kolapore Church - Paradise Highway) today, and found conditions to be good to excellent, with the exception of two areas that had been walked.  The worst section is Paradise Highway west of 18 for about a km.  The trail, which can be a bit rough in good conditions, has been chewed up by thoughtless walkers.  There has also been some walking on Paradise Highway south of 22.  I switched over to rock skis today, which was the right choice.  Conditions are likely to deteriorate over the next few days as temperatures warm - less snow, more rocks.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Ski conditions were good again today.  The trails I skied today at the south end were generally in good condition, although I hear that there are areas where thoughtless walkers and snowshoers have chewed up the ski track.  There are still areas where more clearing is needed (e.g., Southern Crossing west of the 10th Line) and areas where the trail will be too wet for use (south end of Trail to the Summit.)  Kolapore Trail Guide

Overnight Kolapore received several cm of new snow, which will help to freshen the trails.  There is an excellent snow base - the snow gauge is at 40 cm, although there are a few places where rocks are showing through.  I would still recommend avoiding the traditional wet areas, especially the south end of Trail to the Summit.  Kolapore volunteers and other trail fairies are continuing to prune/shake snow-laden branches that are obstructing the trail - please lend a hand.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Snow is holding with a little more fresh overnight. Main trails are broken in and mostly cleared. Parking is ploughed. Very occasional rock but we've skied on much less. Enjoy!

Kolapore was lucky today, and avoided the rain that fell in Collingwood.  A light dusting of new snow, although the temperatures were close to 0.  The Kolapore parking lot was plowed yesterday afternoon, and is in good shape.  The trails have lots of snow, but we still need cold weather to freeze the wet areas.   Kolapore Trail Guide

Another amazing day.  There is 45 cm of snow at the snow gauge.  Be prepared to break trail in many areas. My other comments from yesterday stand - lots of trees bent over with snow, and avoid the traditional wet areas.  There is enough snow that on many trails you probably don't need rock skis.

This afternoon I went for a ski in the County Forest.  The reading at the snow gauge is 35 cm.  Skiing was very pleasant, although there were a lot of trees bent over because of the heavy snow.  We did lots of tree shaking and some trimming.  We didn't see any other ski tracks, so there is still lots of trail breaking to do.  Avoid any wet trails, such as the south end of Trail to the Summit and parts of Quiet Pastures, since the water will be lurking under the snow.  The Kolapore parking lot was plowed, but may be difficult to get into if the predicted snow arrives.   Kolapore Trail Guide
