After my post yesterday afternoon, Kolapore received some more freezing drizzle.  I wasn't sure what to expect, but the skiing was very pleasant today.  There is a thin crust on the snow, but the tracks aren't icy.  (Blue wax worked fine again today.)  The tracks are getting faster after a reasonable amount of use.  Get out and enjoy the skiing before the predicted mid-week thaw.

Kolapore received some light freezing drizzle Sunday morning.  I skied in it (and on it), and was pleasantly surprised that ski conditions stayed good.  My blue kick wax still worked fine.

Two Kolapore veterans went for a long ski this morning, and came back grinning ear to ear.  Great snow, good tracks, perfect temperatures, and very little trail maintenance required.  There hasn't been much snow since Monday, so the popular trails are getting faster.  Skiing should be great this weekend.

Not saying you should...but if you were thinking about it and spending your time skiing, this is the week to do it. More snow and more snow and conditions are now excellent.

Sunday night Kolapore received about 6 cm of powder snow.  With the snow that was received over the weekend, conditions should generally be very good.  (This was confirmed on a long ski on Monday - the odd rock and wet spot, but great skiing overall.  The snow gauge is up to 17")

We had about 10 cm of new snow overnight.  As I write this at 9 AM it is snowing, and more is predicted.  Skiing should be generally good today.  I would still exercise caution on the rocky trails (and there are wet spots), but most trails should be at least "OK".

Skied CF trails this morning.  New snow on a hard base + no rocks + not cold = a fun morning.

As I said to my future wife, "If you're holding out for perfect, you may have to wait a long time." More snow overnight continues. Still a few rocks with ice under new snow so caution on hills. But good enough and will only improve through the day. See you on the trails.

Thursday night/Friday morning Kolapore received about 5 cm of new snow.  The Kolapore snow gauge is at 28 cm - this is about half fresh snow cover and half icy crust (or rocks).  I did a pleasant ski this afternoon through the County Forest, and then the John's Portage - Jackrabbit - Kingsway loop.  Outside the County Forest I was very glad I was on rock skis - added quite a few new scratches.  I would definitely stay off the rocky trails (e.g., Paradise Highway) until we get more snow.  The Kolapore parking lot was plowed this morning.

I've been disappointed with the snowfall this week.  In spite of a number of flurries this week, we only have about 8 cm of fresh snow on top of the icy crust (and rocks).  This isn't enough to provide good skiing, although there may be some passable skiing in less rocky areas like the County Forest.
