I did a short ski this afternoon, and although there is still quite a bit of snow, the trail is crusty/icy.  In addition, we are now getting into spring conditions with "reverse tracks".  This happens when the packed ski track melts slower than the adjacent loose snow.  Most skiers wouldn't enjoy Kolapore conditions at the moment.

Temperatures the past two days have reached about +10.  Sloppy spring skiing.  There's still a reasonable amount of snow in the bush, but conditions over the next few days will vary dramatically depending on the temperature.  Be careful    Kolapore Trail Guide

The trails are in good shape and broken in. I did a 20 km circle. I was finishing around 5 PM and the snow was starting to get hard and the tracks rigid. Very fast and uncontrollable downhill leading to point 52. I would say klister would work best for grip

The warming weather means that we are now into spring skiing.  Skiers will need to be careful about timing their visits.  The trails will get very icy when the temperature drops, so you should be sure that the sun or temperatures have a chance to soften the trails before you head out.  There is lots of snow as a result of the snowstorms late last week.  I went for a short ski this (Wednesday) afternoon, when the temperature was just below freezing.  Tracks were in good shape, but fast.  Most skiers will likely find steeper or long hills to be too fast, unless the snow has softened.     Kolapore Trail Guide

Since Wednesday Kolapore has received over 80 cm of new snow, including another 5 cm last night.  The Kolapore parking lot has been plowed.  I did some trail breaking yesterday in the County Forest, and it was very hard work (but beautiful).  The snow was up to my knees.  Doing it in a group is essential.  At the moment only a small part of County Forest is broken.  I'm sure some brave souls will be tackling the Kolapore entrance today.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Yesterday I reported that there had been 20 cm of new snow.  Overnight Kolapore received 60 cm of additional snow, and a bit more fell during the day.  As of 5 PM the Kolapore parking lot has not been plowed, and you don't have a hope of getting in until it is.  I did some trail breaking today, and it is very hard work (but beautiful).  The snow was up to my knees.  Doing it in a group is essential.  At the moment only a small part of County Forest is broken, and nobody has been in at Kolapore.  Kolapore Trail Guide

Over Wednesday and Thursday Kolapore has received about 20 cm of new snow.  There is the potential for a lot more snow between now (Thursday afternoon) and Saturday.  The Kolapore parking lot was plowed when I went by this afternoon, and I could see a few ski tracks in at the Kolapore entrance.  No tracks at the east end of the County Forest.  Given the potential for rain several days early next week, get out and take advantage of the winter conditions.

It was spring skiing most of the day today - the temperature got up to +5.  The trails will ice up overnight.  I would recommend staying off the trails until we get a reasonable amount of new snow (which is in the forecast over the next few days)

I had a lovely ski this morning - powder snow conditions.  Ski tracks were fast, particularly where there had been substantial traffic.  This afternoon it is changing to spring skiing conditions, with temperatures reaching about +2.  Sunday is likely to be spring skiing most of the day, although there may be some icy conditions early in the morning.  After that, conditions are likely to range from icy to soft, depending on temperatures, until we get some fresh snow.  Kolapore Trail Guide
